I have been selected to compete in the Margaret Hudson “Cutest Baby” Contest.
First let me say that it is an honor to be selected!
Secondly, please don’t let word get back to my old running buddies from back on the Jersey Shore or I will never hear the end of this one!
This is a pretty cool thing and I need your help.
Here’s why…
If you have not heard of the Margaret Hudson Program let me give you the low down…
“The Margaret Hudson Program provides pregnant and parenting teen mothers an opportunity to continue their academic education with the support of child care and comprehensive social and health services. The program also provides adolescent pregnancy prevention education for the students and their families.”
How cool is that!
Listen, I’m a dude and will never be able to relate to what these young ladies are going through in life.
But what I can appreciate is the opportunity that they are being provided to still be able to WIN in life!
We all have our story…
and the one thing I know is that when I was going through a challenging time in my own life someone stepped in to help me.
Someone stepped in to rescue me!
Someone gave me a second chance!
Someone was there to stand for me when I couldn’t or didn’t feel like going on!
Just like that young pregnant teen mom that may have made the wrong choice we all have been there and made a choice that changed the direction of our life.
I remind my daughter and clients all the time, “You get to choose your choices but you don’t get to choose your consequences!”
I couldn’t imagine being a young teen with the challenge of being pregnant and being a mom.
We ALL have or will make a choice in life that will have consequences attached to it that are not fun.
And we all need a little grace and mercy. We all need a second chance. We all need someone to believe in us.
We all need a team to help us WIN
A new environment that we can succeed in.
A way for us to turn what may look like a lose in our life into a WIN.
And that my friend is what Margaret Hudson is doing for these young ladies.
They are helping them WIN by providing them with an opportunity to still chase dreams and create goals be the BEST young lady they can be, the best citizen they can be, and the best mother they can be.
That is WINNING!
That is what life is ALL about!
