I get asked the question all the time, “How and why did you become a coach?”
How- The how part..lets just say it has been a process!
Why- Because I love people and have a heart to see people experience life for what it should be.
At a young age I was told on many different occasions that I would be a preacher/pastor. I never felt like that was my calling but I was always very intrigued by the profession.
I was intrigued on how a Preacher/Pastor was able to touch so many lives and help so many people at one time.
As I began to discover who I was and what I was called to do I realized that a preacher is a coach. They coach people on a regular basis. If it is on Sunday morning as they preach a sermon, in a book or on television; they have the opportunity to speak into the lives of people. The opportunity to help people. The opportunity to make people better then when they started. The opportunity to empower people, The opportunity to inspire others, the opportunity to teach and mentor!
This is why I coach!!!
There have been a few people that have inspired me and have made me the person that I am today but none larger then my pastor, my coach, my hero, Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty.
If you do not know who Pastor Billy Joe is just google his name. This man is the ultimate coach!
This man has been my pastor for the last 7 years. You see, 7 years ago I was in the middle of going through a huge tragedy in my life. It was a time when I was contemplating giving up and not knowing what direction to turn. I began to question why am I here? What did I do to deserve this? I had a lot of questions and no answers….
I joined Victory Church and this began my journey to ultimate success. This was the start of my journey.
Over the next 7 years I was coached on a daily basis by Pastor Billy Joe. I would attend his church service on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, I would cut the cell lesson out of the bulletin and begin to implement every word of every lesson. I would purchase each sermon so that I could listen to it over and over in my car, I would purchase the dvd so that I could watch it again at my house and I purchased everyone of Pastor Billy Joe’s books. I then enrolled into VBI so that I could receive even more coaching in my life.
I am the man that I am today because of Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty! This guy has taught me how to live life! He has taught me how to be a father, how to be a husband , how to love, how to forgive, how to teach, how to coach, how to inspire, how to treat people…He has taught me how to live life.
Pastor Billy Joe is my hero because of the life that he lived. He was a man of integrity and a man of humility. A man that lived life to the fullest and lived life to help others. He put others before himself and did not care what others thought about him as long as he was doing what he was called to do.
He is my hero because he lived life to the fullest and experienced ultimate prosperity in his life!
I was honored to be able to usher the memorial service of Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty.
He is the greatest coach to ever live…
