Ken Campbell is a First Responder for EMSA and was a top finisher in the 25 week challenge.
Joining Fit First Responders and then the 25 week challenge has not only transformed his life, but also his family’s life. He has lost weight, gained muscle, become stronger, and is living a healthier lifestyle.
Ken has learned the importance of eating to live instead of living to eat. He enjoys the taste of food more without covering it up with ketchup or BBQ sauce. Meal planning for the week and meal prepping on the weekend helps him ensure that he is keeping his body fueled throughout the day so he can stay alert and focused at work. He shares, “I now also have energy to work out after my 12 hour shift. The strength and conditioning at FFR has helped me become more fit, which enables me to do my job better and easier without injury.”
All the changes Ken has made with his eating habits and exercise have had a tremendous effect on his health. He was able to discontinue taking blood pressure and cholesterol medication. He says, “I have a better attitude and outlook, and I sleep better at night and feel rested when I wake up at 2:45 am to get ready for work.
My family has noticed a difference. I no longer sit around all the time watching TV. I am more active now. I’ve enjoyed teaching my family about the exercises I do and helping them try them too. I am now leading my family to a healthier and more active lifestyle. I completed my first 5K in April. My family has done several, but it was my first one. It felt so great to cross that finish line! I can’t wait for my next 5K. Family time now is spending time outdoors being active, camping and hiking, and cooking healthy meals together. I loved the times I was able to bring my wife and kids to the gym to workout with me.”

Ken says, “Joining FFR not only saved my life, it improved my quality of life! I look forward each day to being there with my FFR family. Everyone pushes me to be the best me I can be.” Ken has become a better husband, father, employee, and man through this process. He adds, “I know that I am not finished! I still have work to do, but now I know I will be fit and healthy for the rest of my life!”
