Lucy McMath is 33 years old and is an Orthopedic Trauma Nurse. She has been a part of Strong Women for seven months.

Lucy loves the sense of community and that all of the women in the group have different strengths.

Lucy shares, “It took me a long time to get on board with working out, but my oldest son had been doing the teen program for awhile and his coach at the time would visit with me about the Strong Women program. I kept saying ‘I can’t. I don’t have time, but once I figured out I could work out on my lunch break and had someone that was willing to invest time in me I signed up. The coach I started with had a huge impact on my fitness journey and the coach I have now is just as fantastic. I’m grateful for her. I am the kind of person that will not workout on my own and I needed this for the accountability alone, haha!”

Lucy has seen AMAZING results especially in her arms. She says, “I have these things called abs now! I look forward to seeing even more results. My weight has not changed a lot, but things fit differently now because i have definition/tone and I love it! Given the right tools I started believing in myself and finding my strength.

Joining right after her husband had been deployed, Lucy found the ladies in the Strong Women really helped her though a tough time. She explains, “As a military wife and mother of two boys having the support of the group helped me through a tough 6 months. The strong women program sure is about lifting, but this program is so much more than that. We laugh together, pray together, support each other, hang out with one another and push one another to be our best possible self. I needed this program more than I knew. Going to the gym is like therapy for me and the support I need.”

As a nurse Lucy’s job is physically demanding, and she has noticed since joining she has more energy. As an orthopedic nurse she does a lot of squatting/bending. She said, “When I am removing sutures or holding arms/legs up for extended periods of time while putting a cast on I have noticed that these jobs have become easier and not as hard on my body since I started lifting and changed my body mechanics.”

Lucy shares her advice: “Once I was able to get out of my own head I was able to really give 110% to this program. Anyone looking for not only a physical change but a lifestyle change should check it out.”
