Natalie Iannazzo is a 25 year-old registered dietitian and works back and forth between St. Francis Hospital and Hillcrest Medical Center. She has been a part of Bootcamp Tulsa since August.
Natalie joined during the bridal challenge, and she says, “Somehow my unlucky self won, and I was completely blessed by the bridal package. Thank you BcT!!!!!” She says she was so nervous the first day but made it through the first workout and didn’t pass out despite how she felt. She says after she made it through the first week, she knew she was completely hooked.
It is hard for Natalie to pick a favorite aspect of BcT, but she says the women you meet, the variety of the workouts, and the coaches definitely make it worth your time. She has been to five different locations and has loved the coach and workout at each one! She says she has never had the same exact workout twice so it keeps things interesting, and you don’t get bored. She finds the ladies at each Bootcamp are so welcoming and says, “It may be intimidating to walk in to a group of 40 women you don’t know, but they are so encouraging and friendly to everyone.”
All of the women at Bootcamp are what keep Natalie coming back. She explains, “They are encouraging and hold everyone accountable to their workouts and their nutrition.” Prior to BcT, Natalie always had a membership to a gym but it was becoming so hard to make herself actually go. She was lucky if she would make it to the gym twice a week. She said the gym was intimidating and she never had anyone to talk to. She says, “Bootcamp may be intimidating the first time, but the ladies immediately make you feel welcome. It is nice to be a part of such a generous and caring organization (staff and members)! What gym texts or facebooks you when you miss a workout? Bootcamp is definitely unique in that way!” She actually hates missing a workout, and says it kind of becomes an addiction!
She did not take beginning measurements or know her body fat, but she has lost 12 pounds and a dress size. However, she says the best result is seeing that she actually has muscle definition. She says, “I never thought I would be toned enough to see any type of definition, but here I am 8 months later getting compliments on my arms and back. I could have never dreamed that would happen!”
Even though Natalie has only been coming to Bootcamp for eight months, she has already made some great friends. She is happier and healthier and is currently training for a half marathon, which she says would not be possible without Bootcamp. She adds, “I am not very athletic, but somehow have gained the stamina and confidence I needed to begin the training.”
Natalie says Bootcamp has dramatically increased her self-confidence. During college she definitely felt uncomfortable in her clothes and wore baggy shirts and dresses that she felt would hide her body. She says, “When I joined, my wedding was still 8 months away and I just wanted to feel beautiful on my wedding day. BcT surpassed my expectations in every way. I can’t thank them enough for how much better I feel about myself on a day-to-day basis.”
For a newcomer, Natalie would say to just come one time. She says the hardest part is getting to that first workout. She says, “After that, you immediately feel like you are part of the group. The workout may seem hard, but if you take it at your own pace, your intensity and strength will grow each time! The workouts are never easy, but they are so fun and you will be proud of yourself after each one.”
